Confused by the answers concerning Xfinity approved gateways ve comcast gateways for xFi.

This question has previously been asked, but one answer says you must use a Comcast Gateway, and the other one says that is not true. Can someone provide me with the "official" answer to my inquiry.

pstrbill, to add to what RobertWy has provided, xFi is only available to customers that rent a compatible Gateway from Comcast. These xFi compatible devices include the Arris tg1682g (XB3), Cisco 3941t (XB3), Arris tg3482g (XB6) and Technicolor CGM4140COM (XB6).
