Can you manually shut of WiFi without shutting off the modem altogether?

Yesterday, I asked if there was a way to put the WiFi on a timer, such that the network would shut off at prescribed hours. My question now is a little simpler: Is there some way one can just shut down the Wi-Fi without shutting down the wired connections? I tried going into Gateway > Connections > WiFi > 2.4 GHz (and 5 GHz) and disable them. The lights on the modem for those functions go off, but the WiFi is still available. Any thoughts?

I have been able to disable my SSID's with both an XB3 and an XB6 by turning off the the two SSID's.

 

But ONCE, I forgot to select the SAVE option at the bottom of the screen.

When I disable the two channels (including saving the change), the two lights on the front of the modem go off, but the network continues to operate. I'm very confused.

Are you saying your wifi devices still see those SSID's?
