I have an unlocked XM Samsung S7. When I insert an alien SIM (tried both t-mobile and Sprint), it reports an invalid SIM. I checked w/ XM and they verified that the S7 was never locked. What is my next step?
The Samsung S7 is network locked. It always prompts for an XM SIM. My "invalid" T-Mobile SIM works fine in an iPhone SE, LG X charge, and LG K20 plus. All of these phones were originally with a different carrer, were unlocked, and the T-Mobile SIM was an alien SIM in all cases. So the SIM works fine in other phones. The S7 only looks for an Xfinity SIM and rejects all others. XM's claim that the phone is unlocked is bogus. I want my money back.
lackinginfo, only the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge/Flat and the LG K212 come unlocked out of the box. I'll take a closer look here. Please send me a private message with your full name and phone number tied to your residential services for help.
