Xfinity Mobile - SSN required for existing Xfinity customer? - There has to be another way

As a current Xfinity home internet customer, I tried signing up for Xfinity Mobile service with my own device. When I got to the screen that required my SSN, I stopped. I called Xfinity Mobile, I went to a retail store and I opened a chat window. Xfinity appears to care less about unnecessarily exposing their (potential) customers' SSNs. 

Please provide another way to use Xfinity Mobile without providing a SSN - especially for current, established, on-time paying customers.

3:47:29 PM Mihai : Sometimes when I go to the bank they always request my Identity card and sometimes I forget it at home. And is necessary to go back and take the ID with me.

Hi hokeday, thank you for reaching out to Xfinity Mobile through the Forum. I completely understand the concern with having to provide your full social security number (SSN). Account security is our highest priority, and in order to assure you are the owner of the residential account, and indeed the one signing up for mobile service, the SSN is required. Although there will not be a credit check submitted for bringing your own device, it is a form of verification. Our system will not allow for a driver’s license number or any other information outside of your date of birth and social security number.

 

There is no option to override this security measure currently. We strive to make every customer happy, however due to security reasons, this detail is something we are not able to remove. Keep in mind, we work hard to keep our customers information protected, and your information is not shared with anyone. Please let me know if you have any other questions as I am happy to help.
