Xfinity Mobile LTE speed issues (since signing up a month ago) 1mbps all i'm getting

I signed up for Xfinity Mobile a month ago and have been having this problem since I joined. Looking to see if someone can give me some pointers (mostly Xfinity employees).

 

I brought two of my own compatible devices to Xfinity mobile. An iPhone XR and and iPhone X. Both phones are consistently getting download speeds under 2mpbs at all times, I've done numerous speed tests in different areas. I live in CO and I just recently went on vacation to Virginia and I was seeing the same speeds there. I get good signal quality, usually 3 out of 4 bars on my phone (phone shows LTE) but i can't seem to get decent speeds. I know Verizon has better speeds than this. I was previously with AT&T where my speeds were always around 40mbps. 

 

I don't know if my account can be reprovisioned or maybe if i need new sim cards, or what but this is not acceptable. I like everything else about Xfinity mobile but it's way too slow. I used less than 1 gigabyte of data last month as the LTE is too slow, so I shouldn't be getting throttled.

If you live in a data traffic congested area, your speeds can get throttled (that is how Verizon works).  In terms of traffic congestion, Verizon postpaid customers get the first priority, then their prepaid customers, then the MVNOs (which is what xfinity mobile is) , etc.  I have noticed this at times when in a shopping mall, or in other busy areas (even with all bars, internet will just craw) but its hard to imagine such speeds even when you are at home and/or all the time.

 

I see the below language in the xfinity mobile plan pricing sheet:

 

In times of congestion, your data may be temporarily slower than other traffic.

Thank you for reaching out to us through the Xfinity forum and my apologies for the inconvenience. Are you having any issues with download speeds when on Wi-Fi? Have you noticed if there have been any areas where you are getting faster download speeds on mobile data?


Network congestion could be an issue, but you mention to be getting the same slow speeds even in different parts of the country. Both of your iPhones are newer models, so I don’t anticipate this issue stemming from the built-in antennas. Generally speaking, changing the SIM card won’t necessarily affect your signal strength, but if it is a bad SIM card, it could prevent a connection to the network. Which prompts me my next question, have you been having any issues with your phone calls over the network?


Before delving into replacing your SIM cards, I would recommend a network reset. If you have not done this before, on your iPhone’s, go into ‘settings’, then ‘general’, then scroll to the bottom and select ‘reset’. There you will see the option to do a network reset. Let us know if this improves the situation at all.

Same issue here. Brand new customer, download LTE speeds less than 2 Mbps all day. Is this typical?

My internet is sooooooooooo slow. Iphone xr. I have been out of the country for half the month, so I know I haven’t used my data.... What up with that?

I really wish I’d known that xifinity mobile is at the bottom of the totem pole for Verizon’s towers before we switched. We have only had xfinity for a week and we are switching back to att. I’ve had 2 bars and haven’t been able to access data in town. Apparently there is too much traffic? It’s inexcusable and I’m praying xfinity will take back the new phone my Husband had to buy to switch over.

I have the same issues at home I’m getting less than 1mbps. Around town it’s about the same. I switched from straight talk and they had better speeds where ever I went this is just horrible how xfinity mobile is so slow I’m going back to straight talk.

I am having the same issue. I’ve noticed that if I turn off my phone and turn it back on, I get a couple minutes of reasonable speeds. But after that it drops to un-useable speeds (like 0.16Mbps).

I’ve reset network settings and completely reset all other settings on my iPhone X. Neither has fixed it. I’ve made sure my phone is up to date as well.

I’m about to drop Xfinity Mobile because of this. It’s not a throttling issue. This goes on even at 2am on weekdays.

Has anyone resolved this issue, or did you cancel? Do some people realize acceptable data speed on their device?

This seems like a widespread issue, but tech support asks if it's due to "bring your own device" (reset network connection, replaced sim card, restart device, etc).

I have reset the network (x2), replaced SIM, and still experience slow data. What else?

Spoke with level 2 for over an hour today, they say 2-3 mbps is as good as it gets in this city ("there's nothing we can do to improve it"). Didn't have these problems with Vzw using the same device. I wondered if others reverted to another provider.

Same issue here. I bought one line from Xfinity. I am really frustrated with the speed. Is there any option to cancel the contact?

So interestingly I was getting awful speeds on my brand new iPhone 11 when I switched from AT&T. I reset the phone and no change. Then I ran a speed test and halfway through it suddenly sped up to an almost acceptable 4mbps. Not great vs AT&T but better. I will see if it stays there
