Problems with Kyocera Cadence on Xfinity Mobile

I purchased a Kyocera Cadence with the intention of giving it to my mom. As she uses almost no data, this would be the cheapest, most relaible cell service where she is.

I inserted my Xfinity Mobile sim into the phone, and while it could see the LTE network, every attempt to dial out would result in a "call ended" hang up. I assumed that the phone was locked to the Verizon Prepaid network, and so I paid to get it unlocked. The problem is that I keep getting the call ended error on every dial out attempt!

I saw in past threads that this phone was usable on XF Mobile. Did I just throw $50 down the drain? Can someone help me?

If you spent that much on a unlock yes.
The phone should work. I use a Samsung j3 Verizon prepaid

I don't see anywhere in the network settings to swap to global. Also, the APN doesn't seem to be a problem, since it can access LTE data.

I tried my at&t wireless SIM card and the phone works. Do you think there might be something weird about my XF Mobile SIM?
