Every text message I receive on my LG X Charge arrives with a “download” button that I have to click before I can read the message. This happens regardless of whether I’m connected on my home network or Xfinity. Is there a setting somewhere that can be configured to just automatically download the actual message with having to click “download”?
I'm not sure why that happens. I don't think there's a setting because sometimes I receive messages that I have to download, and sometimes not. Doesn't matter who the sender is, or whether or not there's a picture. The wifi connection doesn't matter, because texts transmit over the voice network. When I'm home my voice/text signal varies between one and two bars. When I try to send a text, it'll go with two bars but not one. Maybe the incoming texts get hung up when the signal is weak?
Thank you for the reply - I thought I checked everywhere, but wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing a setting somewhere that could fix this annoying “feature”.
Thank you for the advice, ComcastPhill. No, I haven’t cleared the message app cache before your suggestion. I just cleared it now, and will post results after receiving a few new text messages.
thanks again - I appreciate your help.
ComcastPhill, I’m sorry to report back that I’m still getting the “download” button on MMS text messages even after clearing the message app cache. Any other thoughts on things I can try to get these messages to download automatically? Thanks!
No worries about delay -it’s a busy time of year, and I appreciate you making time to help me. The messages come from senders using Verizon and T-Mobile. There’s a third, but I’m not sure who his carrier is.
I have an LG device too (LG G6) and I had the same issues too a while back.
Are you using the stock LG text app on your device? Have you tried using another app? The LG text app on my phone causes the download issues whenever I use group messaging or when I send a receive picture messages. Try using a different text message app as your default. I recommend "Textra". I use it and it's great.
Thank you for the Textra recommendation. I just installed it, and will report back with results. I don’t receive a lot of texts, so it may be a few days before I can tell if it fixes the problem.
Thanks again for the suggestion!
I tried clearing the cache on the default text app, installed Textra (different app) but still not able to send the MMS.. I can receive the MMS not but send to others.. appreciate any help
