Email on Connect App never deletes after it is downloaded on the desktop application

One of the recent Xfinity Connect app updates on iOS has stopped removing the email from the phone once it was downloaded from the server on the desktop application. Now I have thousands of emails on my phone that I have to manually delete.  What settings do I change to get this email to be removed from my phone?
