ROKU, HBO GO

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

I'll add my name to the list of people with comcast and hbo who can't get hbogo on Roku.  It's infuriating as has been pointed out that we're paying the same or more for cable and HBO than other providers, but not getting similar service... and for what reason, really...  very disappointed.

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

I just received a Roku 3 which I purchased in part to allow me to access HBO Go.  I am frustrated that Comcast Xfinity doesn't support ROKU streaming!    I really hope that they decide o do this

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

What's absolutely ridiculous is that we can stream it on PC, on iPhone/iPad, etc... so what's the big deal about streaming on the Roku?  Is it a small fee issue?  Comcast is so greedy they're willing to win the battle and lose the war (ie. lose customers)?  Clearly other providers don't have an issue with this...

When I'm out of my current contract with Comcast, I will need to look into switching because it's not just this one streaming issue, it's a longer-term question about Comcast's relationship with their customers and how much they value them.  Looks like other providers may be valuing customers more.  I mean, come on... this is where the industry is going.  Get with the program or be left behind.

Meanwhile, we should get a discount on our HBO fees since we're not getting as much as one can get from other providers for the same subscription.

I am adding my name to the list of users that want to see HBOGO via the Roku.  I pay Comcast $300 a month and feel cheated by not having this service added to the Roku.

Comcast - you are always advertising your outstanding customer service now is the time to listen to your customers.

I have seen posts stating this will send your customers over to AT&T - LISTEN COMCAST, LISTEN.

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

Let me add my voice to the thousands if not more who are unhappy that HBO GO is not supported by Comcast on Roku. I just bought the new Roku 3 and am beyond unhappy to not be able to watch HBO GO. I cannot believe Comcast is this deaf to the wants and desires of its customers. So frustrating. Nearly every other cable company in the country allows HBO GO on Roku. Come on Comcast!

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

So, posting 1002 in this thread which is a couple of years old now.

Basic cable = no on demand of anything.  Even the HBO that I'm paying for.  I can watch HBO online (not convenient - I have a television for a reason).  I even have the HBO GO - but can't watch it on Roku either.

This is really poor service for an exorbinant amount of money.  Basic cable and internet for $100/mo.  Seriously.  Monopolies suck!

I quit UVerse which I liked to come to Comcast Xfinity.  What a mistake!!! Fortunately I don't have a contract so I'll be switching back to UVerse.   All things considered what you get from UVerse is much better than what Comcast offers for an equal or lesser amount of money.

I noticed that no one says that they will switch to DirecTV!  hmmmm.  Why is that I wonder?  Ha ha.

Re: Roku Users Ask For Xfinity Channel

YES PLEASE!

I purchased my Roku so I could watch Netflix and HBOGO on it.

Yet ANOTHER reason why Comcast is such a frustrating company. If it wasn't my only option (other than satellite) I definitely would not have it.

I agree. There is no legitimate, ethical reason for Comcast's continuing denial of services.

Re: HBO NO Go?

Yes, renting boxes costs money.  Why spend $120 a year to have a box when these services naturally should be made available via internet, e.g. Roku..  If I route HBO GO from a laptop, that is highly incovenient and requires a separate connection for speakers in addition to HDMI cable.

Note, the inconvenience of routing from a laptop to TV is worth it when considering the cost of an additional box.  As a result, not enabling ROKU simply leaves is a bad feeling about the service provider.  I'm sure that a share of people who pay for boxes to avoid this inconvenience provides sizeable revenue to Comcast.  However, this reflects a lack of foresight as a full transition to internet is inevitable at this point and with the loss of "cable" Comcast will soon find customers leaving for other pure internet providers simply as a means to avoid this what feels like abuse from Comcast

Actually, HDMI carries sound as well--no difference in the connection there. I just don't want my laptop tied up when I  may want to use it for other things (such as working on research papers for school) while watching HBOgo. THAT is what Roku is for.

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

The only reason that I can think of for Comcast unwillingness to contract with Roku, and along with their outrageous prices, is that they have to find a way to pay for buying GE's stake in NBC Universal. Wish that Time-Warner would be available in our market. What Comcast needs is some decent competition rather than hoarding the market.

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

What you forget is that all the cable companies have agreements NOT to compete geographicly with eachother. When have you ever seen a commercial for Cox or Time Warner in a Comcast area? Never..

Allthough I don't like to goto the government for ANYTHING. I wouldn't mind putting up a ballot innitiative LOCALLY for local residents to pay for an alternative service for internet. NOT WITH TAXES but monthly subs with service just as fast or faster bid out to the best provider. Then that provider would have to agree to no censorship on services. It would NOT be managed or serviced by the government. They would just provide access to poles or underground infrastructure.

What comcast is doing amounts to legalized censorship. It will be interesting to see what happens when the HBO contract ends and if HBO signs ANOTHER contract with comcast that allows Comcast to block HBO-GO at all. If they do then we can then blame HBO.

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

We won't devolve this into a political discussion, but suffice it to say (as someone who HAS written congress...) that it's now almost impossible to get much change.  Districts have been so gerrymandered purposely to prevent it.

Generally the only/best way to get change is through mass boycotts and public humiliation.  In Comcast's case, they have to see people moving to the competition.  And when people cancel, they need to be very specific why.

It's not the cable companies "in agreement."  Go check your county or city public records, it is your county and city commissioners that "grant" the companies exclusive license to operate in the city/county. Our county has a few years left on a 20 year deal with Comcast. . . and I will do everything in my power to make sure that does not get extended. There are areas where there is more than one cable company to choose from--and in those cities, the prices are quite a bit cheaper and the service somewhat better than those areas where there is no competition.

A friend of mine at work has been with Comcast for well over 12 years, ever since his family moved into their current home. He said that until about a year and a half ago, they were reasonably satisfied with Comcast's service, but over the last year or so, service has steadily declined while prices have steadily risen. He is now dropping Comcast-they are going to Dish at a basic level (so he can have his sports) and Roku for everything else. He was in asking me about the Roku setups and how to get Hulu and Netflix streaming.

There you go...   even the Amazon river starts out as a million little streams.

I have a contract for 1.5 more years, then I will look too...  In the meantime, I'll just be un-happy and vocal.  Maybe we can deter others from signing up...

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

It is a darn same that Comcast blocks viewing on the Roku , why do they care how we view the media, we are still paying for the their service.

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

Well all of this censorship and the fact that HBO Go is blocked on Roku is consistent with why Comcast's brand scores so low in surveys, down at the bottom, around the major oil companies.  Not kidding...  That's why they introduced Xfinity as a new brand -- trying to shed the bad history of the Comcast name.  But the behavior here doesn't help with that much...

They need to open it up - absolutely NO reason not to other than pure greed and LACK of customer service focus.

Well it is CLEAR that COMCAST is READING these posts as they find one with an expletive (which theoretically speaking is only inferring succinctly instead of loquaciously how passionate this individual feels about the topic along with the other 1000+ individuals on the thread) and moved it to some other location and ironically STILL did not actually RESPOND to the comment. So like ATCDV stated they are simply IGNORING us. It is clear that Comcast feels that NO response is the best course of action for them

Please add HBOGo with Roku players

Is there a reason that Comcast blocks HBOgo on Roku?  It really doesn't make any sense because you are just blocking your customers from taking full advantage of what the channel offers.  I'm thinking I'll switch to Dish as they offer this and the Comcast onDemand menue is only about 20% of the full HBOGo content.  Please make this change soon.

The users need to be aware that "JAY" a moderator is regularly deleting, censoring posts, in this thread and the deleted posts are not using profanity nor derogatory words. The posts are informing you the comcast customer that some of us, soon to be former long time customers ( I have been with Comcast since their inception) are leaving comcast for other options. LIKE UVERSE and DISH, Comcast does not care about anyones complaints not problems. IF you read this remember it because it will soon be deleted by the censors. Comcast is dead to me. They are not consumer friendly, the over zealous moderators need to wake up. IF we all leave they have no job. Do yourselves a favor and investigate your options for improved service. Please check out other TV and internet vendors. Send Comcast a clear message, we will not tolerate their anti customer policies

Comcast apparently gives much more power to the executive in charge of revenue decisions than the executive in charge of Customer satisfaction and retention. Needless to say, Comcast gives very little weight to the voice of thousands of Customers who are unhappy not having access to HBO GO on Roku.

Please reconsider the decision to deny HBO GO on Roku and make the INVESTMENT in Customer satisfaction. Very disappointed in Senior Management's insensitivity to the voice of the Customer.

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

Wow for 1 Roku should make it clear on the Box that Xfinity is not supported !

2 Wake up Comcast we pay huge bills for horrible service.

I finally get a second Roku (Because i prefer watching it over cable) and find out i cant even add the HBO i just paid comcast to add specifically to use on the Roku!

Why do we not just use the cable box some asked? I will tell you why. The Roku in 1080p looks way better then the cable box does,Plus its a much simpler setup where everything looks and feels the same from streaming from my pc to watching Hulu or HBO so i thought.

This is another of the absolute jokes and ripoffs Comcast slaps on us. In my town Comcast is the only Internet so for 1 TV with basic channels,1HD box and HD service with just HBO plus intenrnet i pay over $130.00 remeber thats 1 TV i pay $15.00 for Hulu Plus and Netflix and have it on 3 TV's so we never watch the horrible cable repeats anyway.

Lol might ask why we have cable then if we hate it so much. Well we only had Internet through them before one of the pushy sales ladies scammed my wife into a package deal with promasis of free HBO and Streampix for the same price we were paying for internet around 80 dollars. Well what they didnt tell her was it was 1 TV and a SD box no HBO no HD no Streampix. a month later and 6 boxes later we finally have the horible Xfinity HD service with HBO thats so horrible i purchased another Roku box for the main tv also.

LOL just to find out yet again Comcast/Xfinity gets us.

WAKE UP COMCAST !

Re: ROKU, HBO GO

Get with it Comcast, add Roku support. I don't want to plug in my laptop everytime I want to access HBOgo for past HBO series and there is no reason I should have to when I have a perfectly capable Roku at my house. I have been loyal to Comcast for years.  Not providing Roku support doesn't help you keep me as a customer, it just makes me become more informed on your competitors prices and offerings. There should be weekly updates on this forum just to say "We still aren't listening to all of you" or "We are listening to you and this is where we are in the negotiations", so at least we know we should just go some where else rather then continue to waste our time with Comcast. So again, Get with it.

Come on Comcast make a deal with Roku, streaming television is the future! I was so frustrated when I found Comcast didn't provide HBOGO on my Roku. I'm a loyal Comcast customer and have never had a problem. However this is really frustrating, there's no reason not to provide your customers with access to the most devices and programming possible. After all I'm sure Dish or Century-Link would love to provide HBOGO to my Roku!

Please act quickly and hook up with Roku!

A loyal Comcast customer... For now.

Gee, thanks. It's good to know I'm not alone. Maybe if enough of us speak up, they'll listen. It's rather disappointing to me as a customer to see that Brighthouse, Cox & Verizon all provide that service for their subscribers, but Xfinity won't? Lucky for them they're the only game in town at this point with service like that.

That is probably one of the main reasons Comcast won't allow it--lost revenue from cable boxes. They want control and the money.

Re: Roku Users Ask For Xfinity Channel

Comcasts says they are coming out with an HD dapter, who knows when. U should be able to get some ClearQAM channels, free local HD and digital channels by simple plugging your cable directly into your TV into the "cable in" and retuning your TV. Your TV must have a QAM tuner though.

Still waiting for th Uverse install (next week), fingers crossed it goes well, there is some question whether it is actually available for me.

HBOGO works on Roku for Dish and Uverse and DTV.  I am told HBOGO also works with airplay, iphone AppleTV. You have options other than Comcast.

OUYA Game consoles start shipping today and will support HBOGO, since it's android. It will be hooked up to the same TV as my ROKU or can be moved around to any other TV just like my ROKU. Just another reason why this ROKU ban is so silly.
