same thing. trying to catch up on defiance and every time it goes to comercial it freezes. if i reload it plays ten comercials, then freezes the next time it goes to comercial.

My daughter talked me in to using Google Chrome with ABP (Ad Block Plus). Not only did I never encounter the endless commercial loop, I never encountered a commercial. I have watched the last two weeks of The Last Ship from begining to end without viewing one commercial. Google Plus with ABP blocks most of the annoying ads that slow down the load of each web page. The only ads that I see are those pretending to be a news story but are actually endorsing some product. Big improvement on Internet speed. Works for me and hope that it helps at least a few of you that like me are stuck in Comcast purgatory.
Better yet, drop Comcast. They extort so much money that making their customers jump through hoops to obtain service is simply their way of laughing at us.
This is September 2015. Their system should not still be malfunctioning.
I have commercials freeze on almost all the on demand tv shows that I watch. The latest was Mr. Robot and Project Runway. But I have had issues with it almost every time that I watch on demand on my laoptop. I am on a Macbook. OSX This can happen almost anytime day or night. You have to refresh and get to watch another 2-3 minutes of adds again.
ABP and Google Chrome does make a difference. The only time you have to disable ABP is when the show is streaming through Hulu. Not too big of a deal; I can suck it up on the Hulu ads and then enable ABP again when the show is over.
I have noticed that if you watch a show the next day there aren't commercials. Not all shows but some. After that, you get all the ads once again.
It is just sad that we pay so much money to Comcast and the networks *still* get to make a choice about when and often to run commercials.
Ran into the Hulu issue tonight. I disabled the ABP to get the show running. During the first commerical, I enabled it again. Show ran, no commercials.
Comcast - happy to watch the "normal" commercials that I would watch if I viewed the show on TV. Not the issue here. The issue is watching the same commercial over and over and over and over (etc., etc. etc., etc.) again. The issue is having the show start over from the begining even though I am half way through it. The issue is spending three hours watching something on the computer that normally runs for an hour on TV.
I won't even touch the issue of poor customer service, empty promises and a blog on a well known problem that has run this long. Why should we expect anything different from a company that has been granted a monopoly by our government for providing an esential service? No competition - no motivation to have a happy customer.
Well - where to get my burger tonight - McDonald's, Wendy's, Jack In The Box, Sonic, Burger King, Five Guy's or any of the many local restaurants? Wouldn't one of these companies love to have an exclusive right to serve burgers in our town? Well, I can do without a burger, I can even do without cable - need Internet to make a living. Stuck with what Big Brother has said that I have to use in my town - Comcast.
Whenever i attempt to watch "Fear the Walking Dead" the streaming never plays beyond the first set of commercials. The first one ends, but the second repeats and repeats and repeats....
a) What is the Asset Name, Season number/Episode number and please provide the URL/link of the video. A: Any espisode of Season 1.
b) Name of the ad that is disrupting playback or the last ad that played. A: Lincoln commercial with Matthew McCaughaney (or however its spelled).
c) During what set of commercial was the issue happening? (example: "The video does not resume after the second set of commercials). A: The video does not resume after the second set of commercials
d) What Operating System you are using? (Mac 10.6, Windows 8, Windows 7, etc.). A: Mac.
e) What Web Browsers are you using? (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.). Chrome.
f) What time of day did this occur? (example: "Issue happened when I tried watching video at 3:30 PM EST) This may seem like an odd request but ads can rotate throughout the day. This means that a video may not work at 10:00 AM but will work at 3:00 PM. A: Anytime.
Give up...the only way that Comcast will ever respond is if they get hit with a class action suit.
That doesn't mean that their victims will receive compensation, though.
However, Comcast has paid off so many US and state government agencies and the people who infest those agencies that even a class action appears to be unlikely.
Call any lawyers who claim to deal in class action suits, and see what kind of blow off you receive.
The only thing to do is to wait until Netflix obtains the rights or DVDs etc to whatever you want to watch.
Hi L -
I'm in complete agreement with you. I'm okay with a "reasonable" number of ads as well; It's he freezing and/or looping of commercials is what makes me crazy too.
I just had AT&T offer up Uverse in my area. I'll likely go with them soon. I sure wish you had an option in your area!
Comcast Joe, we all realize that you have to run ads, but there is definitely something wrong. Sometimes there's say 4 ads, well those 4 ads keep running over and over again while it says "your video will resume shortly" but it never does! You can ask all you want which videos we're watching but that doesn't seem to matter...if you're reading everyones' complaints. I'm on vacation and would like to watch my shows, but it's impossible. What's the point of having Comcast if you can't watch your shows online!!
I think Comcast Joe is long gone. The thing has never worked. Note how long Comcast's victims have been complaining. The only way that they might fix it is if there is a class action suit, and I have no idea why somebody hasn't initiated one. I contacted several class action lawyers in the Chicago area, and it is as iff the sharks are terrified of Comcast.
my issue happens after the first commercial right at the begining of trying to watch "so you think you can dance".
im running windows 8 and using firefox, and no this is not an intermitten problem. It happens anytime i try and watch this. It crashes my whole firefox and freezes up my computer. im probably switching to Direct tv anyways for tv services as this is an issue with a lot of your shows on xfinity tv. this has happened multiple times on a various ammount of tv programs i try to watch using Xfinity tv.. this is just the first im reporting thinking you all would fix
please fix this issue. as i said. im kind of tired of your budgeted service anyways so im most likely switching to direct tv. but please fix for others
I am having trouble with the following:
a) What is the Asset Name, Season number/Episode number and please provide the URL/link of the video
Falling Skies, Season 5, Episoe Nine "Renunion"
b) Name of the ad that is disrupting playback or the last ad that played
After the initial 9 minutes of show, it goes to the first commercial break and it just keeps playing commericals over and over until it times out or freezes. There is no one specific ad, it plays AT&T, Verizon, University of Phoenix....
c) During what set of commercial was the issue happening? (example: "The video does not resume after the second set of commercials)
The video doesn't resume after the first set of commericals.
d) What Operating System you are using? (Mac 10.6, Windows 8, Windows 7, etc.)
Mac OS 10.10.5
e) What Web Browsers are you using? (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
I have tried both in Chrome and Safari and the issue happens with both. I have also tried both on the xfinity site AND on the TNT site and get the SAME issue because I have to login to xfinity on the TNT site
f) What time of day did this occur?
The issue happened yesteday around 1pm and today around 7am. Time of day doesn't seem to matter. It just happens each time. I've tried clearning my browser history, using a different browser... nothing seems to work. I can never get passed 9 minutes on this show. It's enfuriating. I've wasted like an hour trying to watch a 45 minute show...
Please fix this! It is a recurring problem! I have had this happen to me multimple times! The ads are seriously enfuriating! I get that that's how you make your money, but I shouldn't be watching 1 hr of ads and 30 minutes of TV. I could watch ACTUAL TV and get more programming.
I've had this frustrating experience while attempting to watch a variety of videos. Here's the latest one:
And with Project Runway (after an ad with Carli Lloyd in it; I don't remember what company the ad was for.)
Yep, I think you're right about "ComcastJoe." That said, I'm confident that there IS someone reading these posts and ignoring them. I'm going to start a new message, cite how many messages have been posted about this issue and see what happens. Likely nothing but I am a persistant person!
Please share the link to your new post. I agree, nothing much will come from it but it will be fun to watch Comcast respond to a new post before they realize that it is just "us", once again. I am easily entertained - even by commercials - the first hundred times - in one show.
HAPPEN MOST ON TNT
Everything I buy on amazon streaming is stuff I already own on xfinity.
But the streaming hardly works or the closed captioning is broken.
Amazon makes more money off my xfinity habits than xfinity
Thus, if xfinity had to reimburse me for all xfinity content I had to buy from amazon. i'd get money every month back from xfinity
I usually get to watch about 3 full shows on Xfinity.. On the 4th show, ususaly the first commercial break is infinite.. It keeps rewindng back to the sho'sw begining. No ammount of emptying caches or rebooting will let me continue to watch on xfinity.. So I go to amazon and buy the next couple episodes spend about 4-6$. The next day xfinity is back to letting me watch maybe 2-3 shows before I have to go to pay Amazon.com again for the content Xfinity was supposed to provide
Should I submit invoices to comcast for this? (It has been averaging about 100$ month for the last 13 months)
Hey, I have the same problem spent total of 10 hours on the phone with support.
I have had call backs for multiple specialists. The problem is on your end. I use
three of the top browsers IE, firefox, Chrome and have to use all three sometimes
to get threw one 45 min show. The problem is with comcast/xfinity and specificity
with YOUR ADDS!!! Not Our computer so stop telling people that! Fix YOUR computers
programs, programmers making the adds. Furthermore I can't believe you guys are still telling people it's a problem with their equipment. I understand why services cost so much. You have a system or employees that don't work or don't know what they are doing. I am sure thousands of man hours has gone into this. So makes me think you guys are well aware of the issues and don't know how to fix it. So protocols says blow it off blame it on their computers and browsers.
Hmmm-Comast billing system works flawlessly. Hold up your hand if you ever missed receiving a bill each and every month. Ahhh - just the results that I expected (no one moves)! I wonder if there is any way for the billing department to take over the programming department? They seem to know what they are doing - maybe a contractor or third party company, can't be managed by Comcast.
Get reimbursed for out of pocket expenses because Comcast can't deliver what you pay for- don't hold your breath. Comcast will turn that accounts payable task over to the programming department!
Hello Customer Service - are you still there?? No? Probably being managed by the programming department. ComcastJoe is now ProgrammerJoe. What a joke!
Just save you time.. Pay 2-3$ and watch your Comcast shows on Amamzon Primie.. Since your comcast connection is certainly fast enough!
I can no longer watch FX on comcast and probably everyone in this forum has had to stop watching certain shows due to comcast service. Everyone here needs to contact their favorite TV networks and complain when comcast is not giving their viewers a fair chance. Explain if you find other TV networks dont have this issue that it "seem"s comcast is givng an unfair competive advantage against them.
An interesting note .. Is some networks may pay a higher amount to comcast to not interupt their content with commercials! (What I mean is that comcast gives them less money each year) For example Eray, (though likely subsidized) they have their own sponsored content directly added to the steam. (Instead of streaming interuptions) However the problem is a person can fast foward the Elray past "commcercials." But as a result you will have no technical issues ever viewing ERay show streams. Also comcast is trying out new competetive "hacks" For example the "B4stard executioner" you'll notice uses a different system for deleivering commercials. Like Eray, they have to pay a higher ammount and embed their own commercials into stream but the web browser is sent a small data file of when to disable the fast forwarding. over a preset timeslices they have embeded the commercials. This method technically works! The ones everyone on this forum is complain about is diffrerent we are complaining about client side browser scripting like on FX and SEVERAL other TV networks where the commceral actual video content is delived from elsewere. This system does not work at comcast (dispite the fact Hulu seems to have no issues using the same type of code) . As customers and WE NEED TO TELL ON comcast to these TV networks who might be unaware of the damages they are incurring lettign comcast use a non fool proof delievery. Damages? Really? Yes, In my budgeted TV time I will only watch networks that work on comcast thus at the end of the year.. networks I couldn't watch will be devalued. And comcast can use this as a trick to lower how much money they pay to carry the network.
Comcast only ignores us. Maybe comcast will listen to the TV networks.
I don't know why you're advocating paying Amazon to watch regular TV shows. Every network TV channel and many cable channels including FX offer streaming of episodes the day after broadcast. Why pay for something you can get for free.
OMG just tried to watch Project Runway (on Lifetime) the September 24th show. It crashed 3 times. It kept stopping. The copy was not clear. The bottom half kept going fuzzy.
And OMG so many ads. The same ad would repeat itself 2 to 4 times and then stop.
Ridiculous. Such a waste of time. Not acceptable. An 1 hr show takes over 2 hours to watch and I am a customer of Xfinity and paying for this service which is sold as an advantage. What a lie!
This same happened when I was trying to watch Face Off and other shows.
Some of the most popular shows on Xfinity, and there are PLAYBACK issues.. Doesn't make sense. Internet connectivity is excellent, but the video refuses to play. Why?
If you must have ads, play them and play the show. Doesn't seem difficult.
This exact thing is happeing to me. My video was intereupted several times and the commerical were overly long and would play on a loop two or three times. I was watching Project Runway S13E1. At 2:00 AM EST on Sep 28 2015. Please address thi s issue.
Project Runway S13 E1
2:00 AM EST 9/28/2015
Using Safari on Mac.
Issue happeing in between commerical breaks and continuous loop ads duirng breaks. Also any time video buffers it gets interuppted with set of ads.
I see what you are saying Norm.. We are not stuck *only* using comcast or amazon. since there are other systems such as Hulu that are available. And that are free. And even some networks (once they verify you are with comcast) will let you can stream from *their* websites. Thank you for that reality check!
Actualy now I see what you are saying Norm.. We are not stuck only using comcast or amazon. since there are other systems such as Hulu that are available. And even some networks (once they verify you are with comcast) will let you can stream from *their* websites. Thank you for that reality check!
Yes, as long as your subscription package includes those channels for example FX, TNT and HBO you can verify that you are a Comcast customer and you can stream directly from the networks own website. Also I can tell you that FX, TNT, HBO and ABC all offer live streaming so you can watch live from your computer just like you would from your TV with a cablebox.
I don't know why Comcast has such significant problems or why they aren't addressing them since their employees are fully aware of them but it's a disgrace.
Every show I watch I will have to refresh an ad that has frozen at least once if not twice per show and usually on a black screen. Other times the ad will play without audio. In addition it will not go back to where I left off but at some point earlier in the show.
Sometimes the show itself will freeze. I have increased the Flash player settings to unlimted but it does not help
The shows that I watch are:
NCIS: New Orleans
The Real Housewives (all of them)
Keeping up With the Kardashians
Watch What Happens Live
Manzo'd With Children
Trying to Watch Gotham Season 2 Episode 5, "Scarification". Continues to notify me that Hulu ads are blocked, already disabled my Ad Blocker, then it will play one or two ads and the screen will go black. Sometimes it will just display the "Hulu Ads are blocked" slide for 20 seconds and then go black. Tried refreshing the page and reloading and it will get to the same spot in the ads and do it again. I deleted browsing history and cache already as well.
Using Windows 8 and Google Chrome. This issue has not occurred with any other shows I watch, but this is also the only one I watch that goes through Hulu. Does not correspond to time, watched three e[isodes of Once Upon A Time last night.
Is comcast seriously send me to a 2 year old problem blog about about a major flaw in their system???? I see no solutions in this chain of comments AFTER 2 YEARS OF CRAPPY ASSED SERVICE! I PAY FOR THIS, FIX T NOW OR I'M DUMPING ALL MY COMCAST PRODUCTS (internet, tv, phone, security, etc. -n all at X1 prices) ASAP. Provide the advertised service, or give me a refund. Otherwise, in14 days I contact the FCC, the Oregon Sec. of State, the BBB, and accuse Comcast of fraudulent advertizing. Be warned, this was your legal "friendly knock on the door".

My pleasure! We all have to stick together as it is apparent that Comcast is not going to do a thing to resolve this issue. Thanks for your very kind feedback. Happy viewing!
the commerciala online keep stalling and take like 10 min to get through 3 min of commercials. this happens with multiple videos....scandal, modern family, nashville, blacklist etc. It doesn't matter which video/time of day. the shows stream fine. It's just the commercials that keep stalling.
GMC certified service ad, keeps repeating. It's the 2nd set of ads. Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on Safari. SO ANNOYING!!! It's 10:20 pm est
When I try to watch xfinity on demand on my computer, there are always problems with commericials. In particular, the Google commercial about "Don't love it a little" buffers for so long that it has lasted anywhere from 7 to 32 minutes. I am not exaggerating. I have timed it on multiple occasions. This happens no matter what show I watch, particularly ABC shows (Blackish, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder). It is ridiculous. Other commercials pause and buffer, but this one always does so to an extreme extent. Can this commercial be removed or do I have to stop using xfinity on demand?
My shows exit/freeze during the 1st commercial break on chrome and during the second using safari. It has happened with a number of shows and a range of commercials for the past 3 weeks. Bob's burgers, Modern Family, Southpark, Family Guy, American Horror Story to name just a few....it's definitely not specific to the kind of show or commercial. Sometimes on Safari it makes it to the third commercial break, but then goes through about 4 commercials, freezing for a few minutes after each one. I have Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10.5. I really think that this is an issue with xfinity as opposed to specific shows, browsers, or operating systems. I have no ad-blocker software, and watching things online used to work just fine until about the beginning of last month. The ONLY show I haven't had trouble with was Big Bang Theory.
