"Running Xfinity TV system check" running for hours

Setting up the primary X1 video set top box, "Running Xfinity TV system check" has been on the screen for two hours.  When I set up the secondary box, it did this check and was ready to go in a few minutes.  What's up with this long loop?

Honestly, I've never seen it NOT freeze up the first time at this step.

 

Just unplug the power from the box, plug it back in, and try again. It should work this time.
