how to program new remote to recognize dvd player

We are trying to program our new system Xfinity1's remote control to recognize our dvd player. When using TV input button, the up and down arrows stay on  HDMI1/DVI and do not move to any other selection. Are we not going to be able to use this remote for our dvd player? The remote we have is the voice remote.

AFAIK, the Xr11 remote can progranm your TV and an AUDIO device only.... not a DVD player....

Re: how to program new remote to recognize dvd player

Sounds like you are talking about at least two different things. X1 remotes don't "recognize" anything accept X1 boxes. Your TV "recognizes" other devices such as DVD players. With many TVs you need to make sure the input your DVD player is connected to is actually activated in the TVs settings.

Also, X1 remotes cannot control DVD players. Period.

The input changing issue is ENTIRELY different. The input button on the X1 remotes has limitations. If you press the input button on the Comcast remote repeatedly and it doesn't cycle the inputs on your TV, then it is not going to work.

I know it's been a while, but for completeness...

I struggled with this one, too. You don't use the arrow buttons to switch TV input. You keep pressing the TV Input button and if programmed coorectly, it will cycle through the inputs.
