Xfinity XG1v4 TV Box

I would like the Xfinity XG1v4 TV Box self-install kit sent to me.

This post (http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/X1/Xfinity-XG1v4-TV-Box/td-p/2907630) says to create a new post in this forum to request one.

I live in the Boston area.

What other information do you need for me to procure the XG1V4 Box?

ELLA i was hoping you could help me with getting one of the new x1 4k cable boxes sent to my home. i live in plymouth pa which is northeast pa and the closest store is in scranton over 35miles away from me so i was wondering if you could have 1 shipped to me if i give you my info i tried to click on message you but it wont allow me to pm you.

DID YOU GET A XG1v4 BOX YET? I GOT MINE THRU A SELF INSTALL KIT. YOU WILL ALSO WANT AN  UPDATED GIG ROUTER, & A NEW 2.0 HDMI CABLE. SALAMANDER1.

I've been using my bluetooth headphones with the XG1v4 and I discovered something; when I turn off my TV, the headphone still get sound,  I thought if I used the remote's All Power button, the box would be turned off.  Just FYI.

The X1 box doesn't power down. Once the X1 box goes into power save it will stop streaming BT audio.

This happens randomly a couple times each week. Should I get this box exchanged?

Need a solution for the lack of a SPDIF output of this XG1v4 box. As my Yamaha RX-V863 suports only 1080p I can not use the HDMI to pass 4K signal, it does detect DD but only passes 1080p. I don't feel the urge to spend $xxxx for a new AVR just because the XG1v4 lacks versatility to support slightly older AVR's.

 

I tried the most advanced 4K HDMI splitter and also a 4k HDMI SPDIF splitter avail. in the market , connected on the HDMI output of the XG1v4 and also to the AVR (either HDMI or otpical), in both cases the XG1v4 Auto Detected a Stereo device instead of a DD device. I asked Comcast to add an option in the firmware to broadcast a DD signal regardless of the  device connected on the output. I'm also using  a 4x2 4K Fast switch that has a SPDIF output but as the XG1v4 autoswitches to Stereo it doesn't get the DD out.

 

Let me know your thoughts/suggestions.

The 4K DVR needs to be connected with 4K HDMI cable directly to the television. Connect the S.S. system with a HDMI cable directly to the TV's HDMI ARC port. Make sure the S.S. system has ARC set up and turned on.

thanks, my AVR/ Suround Sound doesnt have an ARC function, are there any published Specs on this box ? I might just swap it to back to a std X1till more 4K programming comes up or till firmware us more versatile.

I have my XG1v4 hooked up to my 4K AVR. I have set the resolution tp 2160p60 4K UHD.

 

However; I find the XG1v4 resets itself to 720p HD.  How can I get the box to stay at 4K?

 

Do I need to hook it directly to the 4K TV?  I can't do this as my TV is not ARC compatible.

Are all of your ports on the AVR 4K compatible? On some not all ports are...

When you hook it up directly to the tv does it change? I've never never seen a box change resolution by itself, is it the settings in the cable box that are changing or are you seeing it on your  AVR or on the tv itself

The change is infrequent.  No pattern.  I haven't tried directly into the TV as the sound would be awful.

I would like to be able to watch my Ultra HD Netflix subscription on my X1 box. If this new box will allow this I would like to know how I can upgrade.

The v4 box does allow it as long as you have a Netflix premium subscription that allows for the UHD.  However, after trying it with my box and also directly using my smart TV, I still found the streaming directly on my TV to look and perform better...FYI.  At least for me, this was true.

A smaller faster cable box with a slick remote is something to get excited about

No excitement for the remote, here. It’s way too cramped and I find it difficult to use. Also, they got rid of the TV power button and it only has POWER ALL which totally breaks my receiver programming.
