Set top box not connected

Set top box not connected

I just got a DVR and modem/router from Xfinity and I keep getting the messsage “we’re not able to connect to this set top box. I took the cable from the wall coverings nbected a splitter and then connect the set top box with one cable and the modem/router with another cable. What am I doing wrong?

Is there an onscreen error code? Were you able to activate the modem?
