Remote issues

I’m having trouble setting up my cable box it goes to the welcome screen and then says select your language but I can’t get the remote to work

Can you try a couple things?

1. Please make sure you are in front of the device and pointing the remote at the box.

2. Try unpairing the remote and try again. You can visit xfinity.com/unpair for instructions

A couple things to verify basic operation:

Are you positive the batteries are inserted properly and good?

Is there any visual response (light) when you push a button?  Aiming into a mirror might show if the infrared light is being emitted.
