REMOTE CONTROL FOR TV

WHY WOULD OUT OF NO WHERE WOULD MY TV POP-UP    THE INSTRUCTIONS TO REPROGRAM WHAT IT THINKS IS A NEW REMOTE CONTROL FOR MY TV?  THE REMOTE WAS JUST SITTING ON THE TABLE AWAY FROM ME WHEN THE SHOW I WAS WATCHING STOPPED AND THE INSTRUCTIONS STARTED.  I HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT HAPPENED AND HAD ONE VERY DIFFICULT TIME SKIPPING IT.

 

I WOULD LOVE A BASIC EXPLANATION AS TO WHY AND IF IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN.

Since we can't see an image of what you observed, it would be pretty hard to figure out what you saw.

I would have provided a screen print of the message if it would allow me to copy it. but it did not let me.   All I can tell you in the way of a description is   That the first screen popped up and it said

 

                                                         DIRECTIONS FOR SETTING UP YOUR  NEW REMOTE

                                                           PLEASE FOLLOW THE NEXT SCREEN DIRECTIONS

 

Then the screen changed and the next one popped up with three pictures of remotes.   Each picture had a different step by step directions.    I tried to follow them but they did not match my remote so I stopped and closed out of the directions. I just don't understand how this whole thing started and don't want it to pop up again

What kind of remote do you have? Sounds like you were prompted to re-pair your X1 remote
