Just bought a 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV

But Comcast is only giving me 1080p. Do I need a different box? Or am I stuck with 1080p?

What box do you have?
What’s the video display set to? Nothing is broadcasted in 1080P

Your TV should be able to upconvert to 2160.  My 1080p TV upconverts.

It's a small box and on the bottom it says XID-P  model Pace PXD01ANI.

Under device settings-video output 1080P best available.

That is correct.  But your 4k TV might be able to upscale to 2160.

Do you know how to do it?

Every TV is different; it might have an option or it might do it automatically.  I set up my 1080p TV years ago for X1 and I don't remember whether I did anything to the TV settings.  But I can tell when I turn it on, a small display appears in the upper left-hand corner with 1080p.

For now if you want to watch actual 4K (UHD) signals, or 1080p (Blu-ray quality), I would learn to use your television's built-in apps. I would start with You Tube.

There is plenty of 4K (2160p) videos to watch for free. You will also find 1440p and 1080p videos to watch too.  If you have high-speed broadband (Internet) you can start watching today.

Later on you can decide if you want to get the Comcast 4K DVR.
