My current cable box is not working, but all the routes I've tried lead to RETURNING the box (as in returning and canceling the service), not REPLACING the box? Can I just go directly to a comcast service center with this box and ask them for a new one?

When I needed to change out my cable box, I took it to a local Xfinity/Comcast store. It was swapped out with an upgraded one with no issue and no charge.
