The tweet from comcast says August. Wish they would just give us a concrete date
Will there be any way to lock the Youtube channel by users so only I can view my Youtube history????? :>)

They can't. They roll the update across the country to millions of X1 users. I am in the Houston market and others I know here have gotten changes wees before and after I did.

They haven't announced any details yet.
Still nothing in Philly. Anybody got anything?
No not in Boston area.
There is another thread complaining about Comcast taking the B button PIP function away. I'm wondering if Comcast is planing to use the B button as a short cut to the YouTube app when it gets here.

Very doubtful. This thread will probably be updated with the release.

It hasn't bee n released yet.
As of this morning I now have Youtube app on X1
It works very well for the most part and the only issues I have with it as of now is that Voice control from the remote does not work at all just yet. Also it is some what slow moving around the interface especially compared to using Youtube on Android TV. Also the videos are muting after a while when sending videos from my iPad to Youtube on X1.
But it is brand new so hopefully these small issues can be improved in the future!
Congrats on getting the YouTube app. What part of the country are you in?

Thanks
I am in Philadelphia,PA
The Youtube App is on my DVR boxes and also the HD box as well.
OK so you are in Comcast's home town. Not a surprise they rolled it out there first

Got lucky this time because even though Philly is Comcast hometown we do not always get new things first
has there been a release date yet scheduled for this? will it come as an update? thanks
When I checked to see if I had Youtube app ( I didn't) I saw they added the Xfinity xFi app which I already have on my phone.

15 minutes outside philly and still no you tube for me
It's kind of buggy at this point and while I was very happy to finally get it there is some major reliability improvments needed!
One example I was just using it and I clicked the exit button to exit out of the app and I got a black scrren for like over a minute before it finally went back to a live channel.
As of now I think I will stick with Youtube for Android TV.
I just called comcast to see if I could find anything out and the girl told me that everybody should have it by Sept. 13. I just want it cause i'm a boxing fan and I buy the great fighters' dvd career set, which I won't have to do anymore if I get you tube on the tv.
In Mpls/St. Paul, we got the "Coming Soon" e-mail 3 weeks ago and as of today, no YouTube. I've learned after the Xfinity for Roku beta rollout and continuing debacle not to hold my breath on any rollout announcements.

what XRE (menu version) do you have? (voice remote "about") and look on XRE server version - is it 1.78/03 8/17/2017 or later? did you go to the menu for apps, 2nd row under entertainment by the Netflix app for the YouTube red icon?
Eureka!!! Just got home from work and the app is up! Under entertainment you see that big red You Tube logo. Seems to be working ok, even have my account up with all my favorites. I am in Media Pa about 15 minutes outside of Philly
well isn't that always the way. now youtube offers voice speed (lke 1.5x and 2.0x) for those long podcasts etc. - great feature. wonder if the app on Xfinity will get that feature?

Can you verify the XRE version? You can check this by saying "about" or click the gear Icon > about

Rustyben,
I'm using 1.78.03 (8/17/17) and no youtube yet so the XRE version is later than that.

They haven't gotten to all the regions yet. The updates are rolled out by mac address. When netflix rolled out, there was a new XRE version.
Youtube has arrived in Boston area. Takes a minute to "activate" by using a code when you try to use it on your TV. But once you are logged in to your existing account all your history is there. It takes a while to understand what remote buttons do what to play, rewind, etc the videos. Also those pesky commercials that you can exit in 4 seconds are still there!!! :>)
Do anybody know if the 4k portion of youtube work on the new xg1v4 boxes?
Guess I spoke too soon. The app has disappeared from one of my two tv's. Just got it yesterday and the app vanished today from my bedroom tv. Still have it on the other one but it's disappointing. Hopefully it will pop back up but I'm not confident
Disappeared on my main box already. Also, on my favorites where I have a bunch of old fights halfway thru, instead of picking up where I left off they are all starting from the beginning. Kind of makes it not worthwhile. Oh well, at least I had it for a day working right

I have the XiD how are the XG1A and the XG2? Are they better in any way?
They all serve different purposes. Take a glance at this: http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/X1/X1-TV-Box-Comparison-DVR-vs-Non-DVR/td-p/2860183
