While watching tv on xfinity the screen will go black for a second then resume playing the show this happens several times an hour

First thing to try is to do a Restart.

Same problem here. Have gone through troubleshooting steps using the Xfinity button on our remote which include restarting X1 box and step-by-step reboot. The problem persists. Problem started a couple of days ago and there were no changes to our service.

Try scheduling a tech visit.
