powering off the X1 set top box

I have a new X1 STB Model PX022ANM.  Is it ok to power this STB off when not in use.? Manufacturer manual says to do it to save power. But frankly, aside from the blue lamp going off, the top of the box is just as warm on or off.  So, Is it ok, or beneficial to turn it off, or should I just leave it on all the time. Blue lamp can be distracting. Thankyou.
