I'm going on vacation for two weeks.  I have a gazillion series set to record new episodes.  Is there any way to hit "pause" for all DVR recording, or do I really have to cancel all of them and then restart them?  I'm sure there won't be room on my DVR for everything!

Sorry, no there isn't. If you have internet access while on vacation, you can log in and delete what you need to.
Or
You could go into scheduled recordings, and cancel what you might find On Demand when you return.
