Not unless you want to exchange your DVR for the 4k DVR.

If you purchased a good quality UHD (Smart tv), and already have a high-speed broadband, you most likely have many apps to choose from. That would include: You Tube, Netflix, Amazon, etc.

 

They can be used for 4K programing over the Internet directly to your television. The Comcast 4K box is currently needed for people without a 4K smart tv.

 

If and when Comcast decides to deliver 4K programing over linear cable is when we would actually want the cable-box.
