Considering that X1 offers access to recordings from any TV in your house, I am why this would be important to you.

What are you trying to accomplish?

I guess he is like a friend of our's who still insists on watching his old VHS movies. I had to help him connect the old VHS recorder to his new Visio TV back in 2015. He is on Comcast now with a Cisico HD cable-box, but still watches his old movies from the 80's.

Why do you need your own VCR / DVD Recorded?  Because Xfinity will remove your recordings after 1 year.  And yes, I want to keep a recording for over a year because I like to watch the things I choose more than some of the ...um...'interesting',,, selections presented to me lately.
