XR5 remote suddenly stopped turning TV on/off?

Today, out of nowhere, my mom’s remote started acting up.  It no longer turns the TV on/off or changes the volume, but it changes the channel.  Troubleshooting with Comcast did no good, nor did entering all those codes.  Any ideas?

Replace the remote

Reboot/restart the X1 STB.  Re-pair the remote to the STB.
