Why did Comcast steal stations that I was already paying for?

This morning, I realized that Comcast stole stations that I had been paying for with my cable subscription. Some of those stations are the Food Network and True TV. Those stations now say a subscription is required to watch. I was confused, as I already pay for these stations. Come to find out after an hour phone call, these stations are gone from my subscription while my cable bill remains the same monthly price. Comcast stated that this is done to “maximize” your service with us. It is more like maximizing money in their wallets. In order to get these stations back I would have to upgrade and pay an additional $25.00 a month. This is ridiculous as I already paid for these stations. How long until Comcast continues to get rid of station on basic cable until there are no stations left at all? I tried to get an answer on that, but just received a reply from a script written for customer service representatives to read.
