Trouble Connecting X1 App {Error -999}

I'm trying to connect my Xfinity TV app that is specified for the X1 platform, and it won't connect. I'm using an iPad air updated to the latest iOS. I'd love to be able to watch recorded programming from my mobile devices!

to test the problem, using a laptop/desktop browser go to http://xtv.comcast.net and see if you are able to view schedule, live TV.

I have a Galaxy Note that I use to download and watch my shows on the go using the xfinity app.  Recently I started getting a new screen that has me 'get started' then I get "connection error".  Was tgere an update that outdated my device?  Any suggestions to get this app working again, ?
