Why do re-run shows show as New and why do 1 hr episodes show as 3 hrs in the guide?

This causes records set to New Only to record reruns and a real mess with the "extended" episodes.

Example: History Channel, Counting Cars 1/14/18 9:00AM - 12:00PM

I would think that a company the size of Comcast would have he resources to do a better job than this.

It's because the providers of that information are not controlled by Comcast.  It's like if you look at TVGuide on the web, they get their information from a third source; they have no control over what that third party is providing them.
