Sling TV on X1

Comcast has reached an agreement with Sling TV that enables us to complement our existing programming by offering customers easy access to Sling TV’s multicultural content, and other Sling services on X1. We'll provide more details when the content is available to customers.

Here are some questions and answers:

What is the agreement?

  • It's an agreement to add the Sling TV app onto the X1 TV box and for Comcast to promote the availability of some of Sling TV’s multicultural programming packages to X1 customers.

How will this work on X1?

  • We’ll have more details to share as we get closer to launch, but Sling TV will be an app on X1.

Is Sling TV content on X1 delivered over the Internet and does it count toward a customers’ data plan?

  • Yes. Sling TV via X1 will be delivered over the Internet and will count towards data thresholds. This is the same as all other Internet-delivered services on the platform such as Netflix, Watchable and the NBC Sports app we made available during the Olympics.

All data that travels over the public Internet on our XFINITY Internet service, regardless of the source and regardless of the device it is delivered to, is subject to the terms and conditions of XFINITY Internet service, including any applicable XFINITY Internet data plan. Whether you’re streaming Internet content on a PC, tablet, or to the X1, all services delivered over the Internet are treated exactly the same and are subject to any applicable data plans, regardless of whether those services are provided by Comcast or another company.

Won’t having Sling TV on X1 increase customers’ data usage?

  • Customers today can watch Sling TV over the Internet on many different devices. With Sling TV on X1, customers will now be watching the same shows over the Internet but with a better experience on X1, so any increase to most customers’ data usage will likely be minimal. And if they do watch more content and are in a market with a data plan, they will have 1 TB of data, which provides for hundreds of hours of streaming HD video.

Re: Sling TV on X1

In all seriousness, I highly doubt making an agreement with Sling TV  through X1 is any type of compliment, or bonus. Sling TV is an option to not have to deal with Xfinity / Comcast's MULTIPLE issues and problems your company is still having. Customers could just use Xfinity internet, and not have to worry about the unreliability with the X1 platform. It will count towards data thresholds anyways, so what is the true benefit?

Well, now that the YouTube app is appearing on the X1 boxes http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/X1/Comcast-to-Launch-YouTube-on-Xfinity-X1/m-p/2951657#M134700 , when can we expect the Sling TV one to show?
