Are you running the sound bar off the cable-box or the television? It should be connected to the television.
On my Samsung TV the speaker volume when set on television speakers is different than when setting volume on sound bar speakers. You would be better off using the television remote for setting volume on each.
If you are using a cable remote it may be changing volume for both sets. It may cause your sound-bar to be too loud. The volume setting is not equal for different speaker sets.
For my Samsung TV I set the Speaker Select to External Speaker. That way the TVs internal speakers are not used at all.
In the Soundbar setup I set ON - TV REMOTE. That allows the Comcast remote to control the Soundbars volume.
Also, in the Soundbar setup I set Auto Power Link. That enabled the Soundbar to power on automaticlly when sound is input into it from the TV. Note that source must be set to D.IN mode.
With the setup above I no longer have to use the remote that came with the Soundbar.
