Remote help for xr 15 uq for Bose cinemate GS 2

I am not having any luck with the codes that have been provided for Bose Cinemate GS series II digital home theater system from Comcast.  I also tried alternate code 01982 I found in forum. I have xr-15-uq remote

Remeber that when you are programming the codes they are being stored in the X1 box and not in the remote, which means you need to be close to the X1 box while programming it.

That makes no sense, of course the codes are stored on the remote. So if they unplug the box, the remote can't turn off the TV?

You try it and see. So, in your ridiculous theory, if somebody swaps a box, they should have to re-enter the TV and audio information again. It doesn't work that way. The codes are stored in the remote.
