Programming new xfinityX1 remote

Hello,

I had to replace my remote the other day, brought the new one home and proceded to program it but ran into a problem.  I was able to enter the 3-digit code when prompted however when I moved to step 4, "Contol Your TV's Power & Volume," I can not get the 5-digit code box to show on the screen so I can enter the manufacturer's code.  Thinking it might be a remote control issue I returned the remote and tried another one, same results.  Do I assume the problem is with the cable box not paring up with the remote?  All other features work on the remote except the power button and volume control and for those I have to use the Samsung remote.  Thanks for any help.

Thanks, but that did not work. No box appears to enter the 5-digit code.

You won’t see a box. The only box that will appear is the three digit code to pair the remote to the X1 box.
