Extended Recording Times

When I schedule a recording, why do the extended time options vary?  Sometimes I can extend a recording 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.  Sometimes I only get 1, 3, 5, and 30 minutes.  For example, Monday Night Football tonight only gives me 30 minutes.  I don't trust the auto-extend to work properly so how can I get the longer extension options?

Sporting events should be recorded manually: https://www.xfinity.com/support/cable-tv/x1-set-a-manual-recording-for-a-channel/
