Explain jargon re recording a TV program

I am a very senior citizen and need explanation for cloud recording.    Can I record without a physical DRV.  I have a DV player.    Do I have to buy a kit and install something?    I have had X1 with voice activation for one year.  Friends say I can record shows.   Forums and on-line info leaves me cold.   Help

I will probably not receive an answer as I cannot even sign in for forums.

Re: Explain jargon re recording a TV program

You need a physical DVR.

Your "DV player" has nothing to do with this.

At this point, Cloud DVR does not replace a physical DVR. It is more of a supplement. It allows you to watch your recordings on a phone or tablet.

Does this help?
