Changing DVD box to HD box

I returned my DVD box to Comcast and received a new HD box. I was told that all I had to do was reconnect the cable in and cable out cables to the new box and follow the screen prompts. Instead, I get a connection error that shuts down the smaller boxes for my upstairs televisions. The phone assistance got me nowhere after an hour of trying to explain what is happening. Anyone?

What's the model of the HD box? If it's not an XG2, you have the wrong box.
