Cable Box hookup needed for ONLINE TV only?

Does Internet Plus package require that a cable box be connected in order to watch ONLINE TV?  I was only shipped a MODEM, which is connected.  And, when I log in and click on MY ACCOUNT, it shows a green check indicating TV Connected and Internet Connected.  However, every single channel, the including basic ones that are part of the Internet Plus package, indicate that a subscription is required.  I'm getting conflicted responses from Comcast employees which, unfortunately has been a consistent problem from the day I signed up for Xfinity.  Can anyone confirm that they have an Internet Plus package and can watch TV online without having a cable box hooked up?
