ASTB needs to download - can I bring the box in?

I’m receiving the ASTB needs to download new software message which I assume means my cable box is dead. Can I bring it in to a service center to replace it or do I need to have someone come out?

Thanks

Is the box working?  If yes, allow it to d/l the update....  no need to replace as updating software is a recurring event.

The box had been unplugged for a very long time (longer than a year). I plugged it in and let it sit all day - the screen never changed so I'm assuming it isn't actually doing anything.

Hi Chow724, I have reviewed your account and see there has been reported signal issues and you services may be working at limited capacity.  We would need to schedule a technician visit, could you please send me a private message with your account information (name on account, address and account number) along with a good time/date for a technician visit.

Thank you
