xfinity stream beta app on roku tv does not show full screen

This topic has already been used but I was unable to work myself into the conversation. It appears a comcast employee had been answering this question through private messages. I have a Roku 2 and just starting using the Xfinity beta app. I do not have a full screen either. I had speculated that it had something to do with it being standard resolution streaming. My Roku settings are set to wide screen. I don't want to stretch or zoom because that doesn't resolve the issue. Can someone tell me if this is an expected format or if there is a fix that supports a 1080P wide screen tv?

Do other roku apps give you a full screen image?

Yes, both my Hulu and Netflix accounts provide full screen. Pandora does as well.

I have the same problem. I have new roku premiere and stick. All apps good except xfinity stream beta. Some ZHBO channels are full size. I also question the channel line up. I can not filter by HD like the ipad which works. Dont have the HD channels on Roku. I think that is the issue. I dont have any option on the app to adjust picture size or wide screen. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue.  I have a letterbox image that is not full screen.

Same issue, there isn't a setting option within the Xfinity app to adjust the screen resolution to 1080p.  I have 2 roku3 devices and 1 roku 4K device, all of which don't show at full screen resolution.  A friend of mine has the same roku devices and the screen resolution showed just fine out the gate.  We are both runing the same App Version 2.3.2. Hopefully Comcast will address this oversight soon.

I have the same issue. The customer service tried to give me some instruction, but her instruction was based on Xfinity Stream app 2.0.5 (version in www.xfinitysimulators.com as of 7/3/2018), but the app version on my Roku Ultra is 2.4.9. Of course her instruction could not solve the issue. Her superviser believed this was a Roku problem, although every other app except Xfinity works just fine on Roku.

 

Can someone help here?

look at a copy of your actual current bill. is there a line that says HD technology fee for $9.95 (can't be zero)?

Thanks for the reply. But no, my bill does not have that fee. Is HD a must for full screen on Roku?

yes but they never said why. local channels may be in HD. Comcast has not stated why the packages that have HD included are not allowed to have HD with the Roku.

I found that I get full screen when I select a channel to watch live from the guide, but not when I add a channel to Favorites, then select it to watch from Favorites.

 

I don't see that there are SD and HD versions of channels in the app guide, as some people suggested here and in similar threads. They all seem to be HD - the picture is crisp HD either way I select the channel, and the channel number is the same in Favorites as it is in the guide. So it's not an HD vs. SD issue. It seems to be where you launch the channel from, which is a bug in the app.

I am accessing the channels from the live TV guide and still get the smaller screen.

I agree. I tried watching ID channel with is on my favorites since it’s a high channel #. It’s not showing a full screen on favorites but it is when you select from all which is a pain since it takes forever to get to the 100’s channels! Any fix yet?

The only channels that are not full screen for me are ESPN and ESPN2. I am selecting the HD channels. Any solution found for this issue? It seems odd that it would occur for only a few channels.

I actually contacted Comcast today to upgrade to HD service, and we still have the full screen issue. It's disappointing that this problem exists for so many users and still lacks resolution.

do your set top boxes now get HD? the only way the Roku or beta stream TV app gets HD currently is if there is a separate charge on the bill for HD Technology fee $10.00 / month. if the HD is in a package bundle then the beta app will not show HD as "HD".

I was able to correct this issue on my TCL Roku TV. On the Xfinity Remote I pressed the Xfinity button. HDMI setup. TV Output Resolution. Then changed the output from Auto to 1080i.

Still happening. Just started using the stream app as an alternative to Hulu plus Live TV (after yet another price increase). Full screen from All Channels, letterbox from Favorites. Very disappointing given how long it takes to scroll through All Channels. Absolutely an app bug.

to diagnose, look at a local HD channel on your X1 set top box in both SD and HD. does your device display the HD channel properly? pick an HD channel like CNN or foxnews and view the HD channel version, is it in HD? do the same on a smart device (iphone/android). the the same HD channels fully fill your device's stream? on the Roku did you select the same 'HD' channel numbers as in the tests above?
