No HD channels on Xfinity Stream Beta for Roku

I saw another post exactly like this and customer was getting SD channels but not the HD channels.  The answer they received was that they had to be subscribed to HD.  I am and still do not get channels.  I called support and they just passed me off and said to wait.  Maybe time will heal all wounds, but I am not confident in that.  The tech also said there was much she could do.  I only use the app on occasion, but it is useless/worthless watching in SD.  I have already reinstalled twice and rebooted the Roku.  What else can be done?

I was on a plan that included HD and one change long ago in the stream app at the time removed all cable HD channels and didn't allow playback of HD recordings. I just changed 'back' to a new contract that includes HD and on change after a few days no HD would play (recordings would start and crash the app, live just crashed app when you selected watch).  I just removed the app, re-added the app (moved to its home position too) and reauthorized. now it does work and no more crashing. HD recordings in the cloud play too.

Re: No HD channels on Xfinity Stream Beta for Roku

I have another Roku that works correctly.  I still have all my HD channels.  Nothing changed there.  I called Comcast and they said everything was correct on their end and there wasn't anything more they could do.  I would have to contact Roku, who doesn't have support.  Comcast also suggested that I wait overnight and there may be an update.  It's been over a week and no change.  I have uninstalled and reauthorized it several times and no change.  All the SD channels appear, just no HD.

comcast made some account changes (database handling). try signing out of that roku and then back in (will have to authorize).

I have exactly the same issue; I have the Digital package but two days ago all SD and no HD. I removed and reauthorized the app twice and even reset the Roku back to factory settings but no success.  With the exception of no local channels, I’m tempted to dump the cable TV and just keep the internet.

would you check your last bill for a line that says HD technology fee? it might be $0 but has to be on the bill to get streaming HD on the roku.

Re: No HD channels on Xfinity Stream Beta for Roku

RustyBen,

I appreciate the reply.  The HD Tech fee does not appear on my bill.  The previous bill indicated that the HD Tech fee was part of the Triple Play package.  The package was changed from the Triple Play to the X1 Double Play in order to get me a lower price.

You would think that all of the HD would be working based on the package, not what is or is not located on the bill.  I have both the Digital Starter and Digital Preferred packages which does allow me to access HD channels in a web browser.

It's just a bit frustrating that it was working before and now I have to go through a bunch of hoops to get this corrected.

Thanks,

you have 30 days to make changes on new plans. you might want to ask for same plan that includes the HD technology fee in the plan's price.

Re: No HD channels on Xfinity Stream Beta for Roku

I am having the same issue.  I called Comcast tech support, to no avail, in the end they said to call ROKU.  They were not much help either since the App is created by Comcast and all they can do it tell me to call Comcast.   Interesting in that I can play back my recording in HD!!!   Just cant see any HD channels anymore.   I did everthihing they asked, Power off the ROKU, deleted and re-added the APP, logout/login all to no avail.  Cant say comcast tech support was of any value as it was obviouly someone read down a list of thing to do.

This all started when my 2 year contract expired with Comcast (Feb 28th) and the price jumped.  Not sure why that should have changed anything  I did verify today that the HD technogy  fee (9.95) is on the account.  Not sure where to turn to next except to call back Cmcast and hopefully find someone is is able to assist.

during daytime USA hours call 800-Comcast and select Cable technical support. ask the agent to transfer you to the specialized apps team. ask the app team to refresh your app entitlements. working?

Re: No HD channels on Xfinity Stream Beta for Roku

Amazingly the problem seems to have been fixed, I am not getting all the HD channels that I should.  Not sure what changed other than calling comast yesterday, where I got  nowhwere with the tech support person except to call Roku.

At least (for now)  problem appears to have been resolved...
