Fax with digital phone service

How do you fax from your printer with digital phone service on the server?  I have an Epson wf2650 and have tried every line plug on the printer and the server box but never get a dial tone!!!!  I am running Windows 8 and when I try to use fax utility it rejects my network name.

Re: Fax with digital phone service

I have an Epson Artisan and sending faxes over the digital phone works fine.   Think it only works at 9600 baud though.

Also receiving faxes have to be done manually or the voice mail breaks receiving.

You need to maeks ure you are using a single pair phone line.... one with only 2 wires....  the 2-pair ( 4-wires) may not work...

Good Luck!

Re: Fax with digital phone service

I suspect it may also depend on the type of fax machine you're sending to. I recently change my all-in-one printer from Lexmark to Epson so that my wife could print from her iPad. My first fax attempt failed. I sent another message to a different company and it went though without a problem.

After the first failure, I was told by Epson that faxes rely on analog lines and won't work with VOIP. The success of the second transmission invalidates that opinion. I have not tried the first recipient again.
