Comcast Won't Release My Numbers to Port Them

I started out with a particular carrier, ported them to comcast a couple of years ago and am trying to return to my previous provider. Comcast will not give up the numbers and allow them to be ported. So I am either stuck with Comcast phone forever or have to give up myu phone number of 20 years.

I am really not pleased at all, and no one seems to know how to check into the issue or resolve it.

Here is what I would try. Be sure you document everything including id number of the rep you are talking too.

1. Call 1-800 comcast if no results go to next set

2. We can Help Team or try the link below forComcastdirect.


.Please include all of the following in your email:

Service address

The full name on your account

Home phone number & an alternate number where you can be reached if possible


Your Comcast Account number

A link to this Thread

A detailed description of the problem


OR you can try:

There are no guarantees that anyone will get this resolved because all what they do is pass the buck to a regional manager so it is like we_can't_help. Lots of passing the buck to make things more confusing and no one actually gets the problem resolved. They hope that the customer forgets it and the problem is resolved.

I am having the same problem

I have filed a complaint with the FTC and the FCC

this is against the law

Comcast disabled my number so ATT could not transfer it - but when I call billing, I am sill paying for the # and when I call sales to have the # reconnected, they say it is active but when I call the port dept they say the # has been disconnected
