On Demand Stopped Working

Within the last week my On Demand has stopped working for my secondary X1 box. They are supposed to be the latest versions. Error code is XRE-03092.
The “technician” installed a new cable line from the xfinity box on my house that only connects to my second dvr box, the main box and gateway/router are connected to a previously installed jack. The jack to the main box and gateway are connected with a splitter from the wall. Should all of my equipment have been in boxes or cellophane when the “technician” came to setup my service? Upon looking at my gateway it doesn’t have a battery and I wasn’t given a battery or ethernet cable is this normal?
