I ordered cable service for a new TV that I just bought. When the service technician arrived to install the service he had a DTA box instead of the standard digital cable box. What is the difference (other than the guide format) and will it provide the best service from my new UHD TV?
DTA's are limited. In most areas, they can only receive Limited Basic, Family, Economy, and Starter channels. Most Preferred channels will not be available, and premimum channels like HBO are not available at all. They do not support OnDemand. The program guide is only about 24 hours and has to be scrolled very slowly to the right.
The main advantage is that they are very small and are currently a few $ cheaper than a full box (they used to be FREE!)
