our platinum dark silver remote is completely lost. one of our children did something with it and we can't find it anywhere. can i get a new one from a service center and program it myself and how much money will comcast charge for a new remote. i understand there is no cost if you turn in an old, broken one but i can't find info anywhere that talks about what you have to pay if you don't have the old remote and have to get a new one. is it $25 or $50? do they just give you a new one and then charge you on your bill?
i hope i have posted correctly- it took me an hour just to figure out how to post this. thank-you for your help.
this might depend on your area, but I lost one they didnt charge me anything, programming it takes two seconds, it comes with instructions. if you cant do it just post here someone will tell you how.
The fact that rental is charged for the remote doesn't mean that you wouldn't be charged for replacement -- after all, you pay rental on DVRs, too. Best to check with the local Comcast office.

We do, of course, pay to rent the remotes, but I was wondering -- do you see a line item for this on your bill? I don't . OTOH the current price sheet lists remote control rental at $ .20 .
On my bill it lists it out seperatly now. But that is for Limited Basic service.
When I had Digital Prefered the box and remote were just listed as included in the package price under package details. No pricing was given under that service tier.

Now that I look closer at the price sheet, all the video tiers say "includes converter and remote" except Limited Basic. I didn't notice that before. Thanks commanguy.
