Remote won't work

Remote won't work

I have just the small basic cable box, and I had to get a new remote today. They told me they no longer have te small remote that I use to use, and the gave me the XR2. I programmed the remote for my tv, but apparently it doesn't work for my little box, because it won't change the channels. So I am quite literally stuck on 1 channel, because the 'box' has NO buttons on it. Is there a way to program the remote so I can change the channels?

Re: Remote won't work

I can't get the remote to work on my basic cable box. I think it needs to be reset.

Re: Remote won't work

I was given an Xr2v3 (black a-b-c-d keys) that wouldn't pair with my cable box. I finally got it working!

A secret was completely resetting between every box pairing attempt.

Trying one pair, then another without the full reset in between didn't seem to work.

It setup until red goes to green.

Enter 9-8-1 (Should blink with each, then blink twice when done.)

(If it doesn't, try setup again then 9-8-1 again. It doesn't blink right every time.)

That resets the remote completely (removes TV pairing & all coding).

Now enter B

If it works on the cable box, great. (It's for one brand)

If it doesn't do the 9-8-1 reset again

Enter C for another brand of box.

If it doesn't work do the 9-8-1 again

See if it works on it's own.

(That's the A option but should be a default. Doesn't hurt to try it with pressing the A either.)

Once the box is working,

do setup and enter the TV code.

Same for setting up whatever else is needed.

Worked for me. Hope it works for you!
