Remote won't turn off DTA box

Remote works fine for TV, but has no effect on DTA (which is still powered on)....... just started yesterday. Batteries are new.  Any ideas?

DTAs don't turn off.

Then perhaps I have wrong term for small/simple cable box.  This one has a green (on) light and a red (off) light.  As of day before last, light stays green even when remote turns TV off.

That is normal operations for DTA.

Re: Remote won't turn off DTA box

I can confirm with OP.  A few days ago the TV remote would power down the DTA.  At least the green light would turn off/sleep and give the appearance of a shut down.  There is a constant green glow when we sleep, and that did not exist a few days ago.  Subsiquently, a power ON would illuminate the green light.  Upon turn on, a light colored blue light could be seen until fully powered up, then go green.

I know others have said that the DTA doesn't really power off, "and its normal operations", that's fine.  The point is..... something has changed and the green light stays on all the time, and the DTA warms up due to a constant "ON" state, where before, when powered off/sleep it didn't consume the same amount of power and was cool to the touch.

I have 2 DTA in the house and both are acting the same way.  Everything else functions fine, besides not being able to power down or put to sleep, whatever the term you want to describe the previous state and not seen a green light ALL the time.

Same with me. I sounds like they sent out a firmware update that keeps the green light on.

Re: Remote won't turn off DTA box

There is a power button on top of the box you can press to turn it off.

Now it happen to me.  Three HD DTA boxes, all at same time, cannot be turned off with remote.  Has anyone figured this out yet?

I have the same issue with my DTA box. I’m unable to shut off via remote. Is there a fix for the issue?

Re: Remote won't turn off DTA box

As everyone has said, the NEW DTAs with the vertical green light USED TO sleep when ALL POWER on remote was selected. Can this function be restored please? Not buying into the black electrical tape solution.

Re: Remote won't turn off DTA box

I also have a Comcast adapter box with a vertical blue light that will not turn off. This problem started perhaps 4-8 weeks ago. It could have been longer. I do not want it on. Pushing the off button does absolutely nothing to the blue light. I want the light to turn off when I turn off the power. In other words, I want all of the power turned off when I turn off the power.

I just got off the phone with technical support. They did a procedure afterwhich the light did turn off.......for 2 minutes. Then it came back on.

It sounds like I am not the only one having this problem.

I was told to return the box to my local Comcast branch and exchange it if the problem continues.

Can anyone else help out with this situation?

Re: Remote won't turn off DTA box

It's not a "problem". It is just the way the firmware was written. There is nothing anyone can do about it. Getting a different box of the same model will not help. Just use the power button on the box itself to turn the power off. Don't wast your time calling Comcast. They have no idea if it is a problem or not. They are not informed of firmware updates.
