I currently have the modem box connected only in extra bedroom. I now want to add a TV to that room.
I looked at the back of the modem box and there is no other connections to connect cable box. So how can I have cable box for TV and modem box connected in same room?
you need to buy a splitter, rated 1000ohm or better and split the cable, No one here is going to be able to tell you though if doing that is going to degrade your signal to a point where you are not getting any internet or tv, you have to do it and see what happens. Also in most areas you will need a cable box to get tv channels.
So what would be the solution. I have 4 bedrooms. One bedroom was empty so Comcast used this one to install the modem box. I now have my son living back at home, and he wants a TV in that room. I don't have any extra outlets so what would the solution be, so that I can have a TV in that bedroom?
I was planning on getting another cable box from Comcast so that he can have a TV. I understand that without a cable box I wouldn't get cable.
best solution is to call comast, get a tech out have him do the split check the signal and make sure its ok. You don't want an amplifier on an internet connection. I have my line split in my garage on goes to tv's the other goes to internet. You need a pro to do this. Call get them out and tell them exactly what you want. ask for a comcast tech not a sub contractor. If after the split your signal is not good ( unlikely) comcast can run a new line seperate from the poll.
