August 1st Changes

I have a TiVo Bolt with a cable card.  Will I also need a Comcast TV box to access switched digital video and other two-way cable services as stated in the Important Information email sent to Xfinity customers online yesterday? So confusing.

Re: August 1st Changes

@Winterrose50 ,

Welcome to the Xfinity Forum and thank you for posting your questions here. We sincerely apologize for the confusion that you are experiencing with your TiVo device when connecting to your Xfinity TV service. Without knowing exactly what the email you received said or what series Tivo you have I can tell you, you may need a Comcast box to receive all your Comcast channels, see additional configuration information below.

Series 1 and Series 2

If you have a Series 1 or Series 2 Single Tuner DVR and want to continue receiving all of your channels, you'll need to connect your TiVo DVR to a TV Adapter or a Comcast TV Box.

To continue receiving all of your channels with a Series 2 Dual Tuner DVR, you'll need to connect your TiVo DVR to a TV Adapter or a TV Box from Comcast. However, connecting to a TV Adapter will not allow you to use TiVo's dual-tuner functionality. To do that, you'll need to use a Comcast TV Box and a cable splitter (included in the Series 2 Dual Tuner package).

Note: Only one tuner will receive your complete channel lineup - your second tuner will receive only basic channels.

Series 3

If you have a Series 3 or above HD DVR and do not already have CableCARDs installed in your TiVo DVR, you will need Comcast to provide you with either:
  • Series 3 HD DVR: Two CableCARDs
  • TiVo HD or TiVo HD XL: Either one M-Card or two S-Cards
  • TiVo Premiere and Premiere XL DVR: One M-Card

Go to to find instructions to connect a TiVo DVR to your TV Box, or contact TiVo directly.
