So, do I need to physically change the two unique SSID names and associated passwords to one common SSID, and password name?
Are the xFi Pods compatible with the firmware level of my Gateway?
You don't have to if you don't want to, you'll be prompted to combine them at time of install through the Xfi app. I'm not sure what the latest firmware is, you won't know for sure until time of install
Just upgraded to an Arris dual band Gateway.
Firmware: TG1682_2.8p15s1_PROD_sey Rev. 12.0
I’ve set it up with 2 distinct network names and passwords (for better or worse).
1. Is this best practice?
Or should I go back and change them both to same SSID and password. If so, should do the bands need to be defined on separate channels?
2. I’m thinking of get xFi Pods.
Are they compatible with the above Gateway firmware level?
3. I’ve read where getting the Pods installed properly will not work with unique band network names? Is this correct?
If so, can I assume that question 1 needs to be addressed?
Any advice is appreciated.
When the Xfi Pods are installed your gateway automatically will turn into one combined network
