I have tried to disable the Xfinity wifi hotspot per xfinity instuctions and was unable to do so. I called Xfinity and asked them to turn it off for me. After much difficulty and speaking to a couple of support people I was assured that the wifi would be disabled within 2 hours. I checked today and the hotspot is still functional. Can some please tell me how to disable this hotspot? My computer cannot be connected to the Gateway modem by an ethernet cable.
This worked for me:
Are you sure that that is yours and not a neighbor's public hotspot broadcast ?
Not trying to hijack this thread or anything, but I have the exact same issue.
I disable it on the Comcast MyAccount|Settings page, see the signal ('xfinitywifi') go away by watching my tablet's network settings page when I click "Disable", but it's back again by the next day.
I check the MyAccount|Setting page and it still says it's Disabled.
To get it to turn back off I have to Enable it, then Disable it again. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Also, I've notice that when I Disable it, the 5Ghz light stops blinking on my modem (XB3). When I come back later and notice it's blinking again I check on my tablet and, sure enough, the xfinitywifi signal is back.
